Financial Transaction Tax

The Financial Transaction Tax combines two key aspects: In the first place, a minimal turnover tax on all financial transactions could contribute to curb the crisis-induced short-term speculation. Secondly, even a very low overall tax rate could mobilise high totals. Hence, not only the perpetrators of the crisis would have to pay up, but funds could be used to reduce global poverty, to fight the effects of climate change and to finance the provision of public global goods.
