Schuhe, Leder & Lederwaren

Bei der Herstellung von Schuhen, Leder und Lederwaren wird an vielen Produktionsstandorten weltweit gegen Menschenrechte und Arbeitsrechte verstoßen. Kinderarbeit, Zwangsarbeit, Unterdrückung von Gewerkschaften, Kollektivverhandlungen und Versammlungen sowie sehr schlechter Arbeits- und Gesundheitsschutz wurden vielfach festgestellt.

Problematisch ist vor allem, dass viele Arbeitsschritte mit giftigen Chemikalien oder gefährlichen Maschinen und mit enormem Zeitdruck durchgeführt werden. Gerade die Lederherstellung führt in Gegenden mit vielen Gerbereien zu weitflächiger Umweltverschmutzung durch giftige, ungeklärte Abwässer und Festabfälle.

Bei der Herstellung von Schuhen, Leder und Lederwaren werden außerdem meist viel zu geringe Löhne an die Arbeiter*innen gezahlt - auch wenn die Waren in Europa dann teuer als Markenprodukte verkauft werden.

SÜDWIND untersucht die Arbeitsbedingungen und die Situation von Arbeiter*innen im Sektor etwa in der Türkei, in Indien oder Indonesien. Gleichzeitig setzt sich SÜDWIND in Deutschland für mehr Engagement innerhalb der Branche und für gesetzliche Verpflichtungen zu menschenrechtlicher und ökologischer Sorgfalt ein.
