With the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive gaining importance, we would like to invite you to our side session on environmental and labour risks in Bangladesh’s garment sector at the 2025 OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector.
📅 Date: 10th February 2025
⏰ Time: 11:30–13:00 CET
📍 Location: Online via Zoom
About the session: In the discussion, we will present our approach and early results from a project focused on improving working and environmental conditions in Bangladesh’s apparel industry. The initiative employs Worker-Based Monitoring (WBM), gathering reliable data on labour conditions via representative surveys. We also used Community-Based Monitoring (CBM) to document environmental impacts and health hazards in areas surrounding factories.
This work is especially crucial in light of the recent EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which emphasizes reliable risk analyses in textile supply chains and incorporating the perspectives of rights holders where the result will provide added value.
